AI Email Reply Assistant with Thread Memory
Draft email replies using stored thread history and sender context. Make.com monitors your inbox, retrieves what retainr remembers about the sender, and generates a reply in your voice.
Usage estimate
Per email processed: 1 memory search (sender + project context) + 1 memory write (thread summary). 15 ops covers approximately 7-8 emails per day.
Writing emails takes time — especially when you need to remember what you discussed last month with a specific contact. This Make.com scenario monitors a Gmail or IMAP inbox, and for each new email it retrieves the sender's history from retainr before drafting a contextual reply.
The scenario stores thread summaries after each draft so context accumulates automatically over time.
What's included: - Trigger: Gmail "Watch Emails" module (or IMAP Watch Emails for other providers) - retainr HTTP module: retrieve sender history + active thread context - OpenAI module: draft reply using retrieved context and a configurable style guide - Gmail module: save draft (or send directly — switch the module as needed) - retainr HTTP module: save thread summary as memory for future emails
Setup steps
- 1Import the scenario blueprint into Make.com
- 2Connect your Gmail account to the Gmail trigger and Gmail draft modules
- 3Add your retainr API key to both HTTP module Authorization headers
- 4Add your OpenAI API key
- 5Edit the system prompt in the OpenAI module to describe your writing style
